GWYNEDD VALLEY, Pa. – The FDU-Florham volleyball team fell to Widener University 3-0 in its first match of the Gwynedd Mercy Tri-Match but swept the Griffins 3-0 in its second match Saturday afternoon on the road.

HOW IT HAPPENED (vs Gwynedd Mercy)
- In Set 1, the two squads battled back and forth for much of the beginning, but FDU pulled away six straight points including three of five kills coming from Wood to put the Devils up 12-4. The set ended with two bad sets and two attack errors from the Griffins and the Devils took Set 1 25-11.
- Set saw the Griffins come out firing as Gwynedd took an 11-10 lead after three straight points, but after a Weinman kill, a service ace from Mackenzie Crandall, and multiple miscues from the Griffins, FDU took a 19-15 lead. The Devils finished the set with a 5-0 run highlighted by a Weinman kill and service ace to take Set 2 25-17.
- Set 3 began similarly to Set 2 and the Griffins held a 10-9 lead but kills from Ocasio and Wood coupled with Gwynedd errors gave FDU the edge at 14-10. FDU held its lead the rest of the way as Weinman cemented the 25-18 win with her 11th kill of the afternoon.
GAME NOTES
- FDU's match against Gwynedd was Weinman's fourth match with double figure kills and first since she had 10 against King's on Sept. 15.
- Ocasio has tallied 25 or more assists in all FDU's matches except for three.
- Wood has finished with double figure digs in each of FDU's matches except for three.
