Trujillo's Hat Trick Leads Men's Soccer Past CCNY, 5-1

MADISON, N.J. – The FDU-Florham men's soccer team cruised past CCNY 5-1 at home Wednesday night as Diego Trujillo netted three goals for the Devils. 

Devils Highlights
  • Trujillo led the Devils with seven shots and three goals. 
  • Vincenzo Gancio netted one of his four shots and totaled three on net. 
  • Jason Balbuena tallied his second career goal.
  • Santiago Ramirez notched the Devils' only assist on the night.
  • First year goalkeeper Rui C. Rosete Jr. made his first collegiate start for the Devils as he notched two saves. 
How it Happened
  • The Beavers started the match with early fireworks as CCNY's Konstantinos Psomaras netted the match's first goal in just the 2'. The Devils quickly knotted the match at 1-1 on Trujillo's first goal of the contest in the last second of the 18'. Two minutes later, Balbuena found the back of net to continue the Devil's comeback. 
  • In the 32', Trujillo scored his second goal of the contest and FDU's third unanswered goal of the first half to take a 3-1 lead into the break.
  • Trujillo secured his hat trick in the 47' with a goal off a free kick from 20 yards out as he found the upper left corner of the CCNY net to put FDU ahead 4-1. 
  • Then in the 83', Gancio added the fifth and final goal for the Devils as he fed a pass from Ramirez past the Beavers keeper and into the lower left quadrant of the CCNY net to ice the 5-1 victory. 
Game Notes
  • First year goalkeeper Gregory Donetz recorded his first career save in the second half. 
  • Wednesday's match was the second consecutive five-goal performance for the Devils over CCNY dating back to the 2024 season. 
  • Trujillo now leads the MAC Freedom with five goals in just three games.
