Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Women's Lacrosse Edged Out by Arcadia, 13-9

Glenside, PA (April 5)Julianna Medina (Linwood, NJ) led the FDU Women's Lacrosse team in scoring 6 goals against Arcadia in their first conference match of the season. Unfortunately, the Devils fell 13-9 to the Knights. 

Following Medina in scoring was Alexis Ashton (Blairstown, NJ) as she earned the remaining 3 Devils goals. In goal for the Devils was Alison Kozik (Ellington, CT), who saved 8 of the 21 shots faced. 

In the first quarter, FDU got on the board at the 14:17 time stamp taking an early 1-0 lead against the Knights. Arcadia responded quickly by scoring back-to-back goals, bringing the score to 2-1. Ashton evened the score 2-2 at the 9:54 minute mark during a man-up opportunity. The Devils and Knights both scored a third goal to round out the quarter, FDU's coming from Medina, which ended the first quarter in a 3-3 tie. 

During the second quarter, Arcadia took the lead and extended the difference to a 2-point game with 6:29 remaining before half. The Devils fought to regain the lead, and goals from Medina evened the score, 5-5 going into the third quarter.  

The Devils and Knights kept a close game during the third quarter. The Knights extended their lead once again, bringing the score to 7-5 at the 13:30 time stamp. Medina continued to score for the Devils which brought the Devils out of their 2-point deficit at the 12:37 minute mark, 7-6. Two more goals from Medina were not enough to regain the lead as Arcadia landed 4 more goals into the net to finish the third quarter with a 3-point lead against the Devils going into the fourth quarter. 

In the fourth quarter, Arcadia started off by earning 2 more goals which extended their lead 13-8 with 8:51 left of game play. Ashton broke the Devils fourth quarter scoring drought as she was assisted by Claudia Zappia (South Brunswick, NJ) to close the gap. The remaining minutes of the game went scoreless for both sides. The Knights were able to hold off the Devils, ultimately winning 13-9.  

 
As a team, FDU-Florham took 25 shots, 18 ground balls, and 16 draw controls. 
 
Arcadia totaled 34 shots on goal, 31 ground balls, and 10 draw controls.
