Softball Bites Back as They Take Game Two at DeSales

Center Valley, PA (April 5) – In MAC Freedom action, the FDU-Florham Devils Softball team traveled to DeSales for a Saturday afternoon doubleheader, and despite losing game one by a 7-6 score, bounced back and tamed the Bulldogs in game two by a 7-2 score.

Game 1:

At the second at-bat of the game, Kylee Berg (Bordentown, NJ) put up the Devils' first run of the game with her first collegiate home run to left field. When multiple Devils were able to make it to a base, Bianca DiSanto (Colonia, NJ) turned up the heat with a 2-run RBI Double to right center field, to go up 3-0.

DeSales was able to keep the pace of the Devils and put up three runs of their own in the bottom of the first inning, 3-3.

In the fourth inning, the Bulldogs were able to take their first lead of the day as a single to left field brought in the RBI on third base.

FDU-Florham came back in the next inning to reclaim their lead with the Devils' second home run of the game coming from DiSanto to go up 6-4.

Despite impressive efforts, FDU was unable to keep the lead in the remaining innings, resulting in another three runs being scored in the sixth inning to claim the 7-6 win.

Erin Sinatra (Colonia, NJ)(8-5) stood tall in the circle as she pitched in all six innings and faced 33 batters. The graduate student collected six bulldog strikeouts in an effort to claim the win.

Game 2:

The Bulldogs were the ones to bite first as they put the first run of the second game with an RBI single through the right side in the third inning.

FDU-Florham got to work taming DeSales by taking the lead with seven runs. Giulia Olear (Cranford, NJ) started the fourth inning with a two-run RBI single to center field and Jada Lambright (Clifton Park, NJ) cleaned up with a RBI single to left field, 7-1.

DeSales gave one last effort to break free with a home run to center field, but it was not enough as the Devils defense was superior to claim the 7-2 victory.

Sinatra was once again seen in the circle during game two as she pitched a total of 13 innings on the day. During the Devils' win, she dished out five strikeouts

FDU-Florham's next contest will be on Tuesday, April 8 as they are set to host King's for a MAC Freedom doubleheader and for the first pairing of three during the week.   ,
