Medina Earns Game Winning Goal Against the Aggies in Overtime, 16-15

Doylestown, PA (April 19)Alexis Ashton (Blairstown, NJ) led the FDU Women's Lacrosse team in scoring 7 goals against Delaware Valley. Julianna Medina (Linwood, NJ) put up 5 goals, including the game winner in overtime, leading to a 16-15 Devils win! In goal for FDU was Alison Kozik (Ellington, CT), who saved 18 of the 28 shots faced.  

FDU scorer Maya Henri (Staten Island) added 2 goals for the Devils as well as Claudia Zappia (South Brunswick, NJ) and Cynthia DiNapoli (Bronx, NY) who each put up 1. 

The Delaware Valley Aggies got an early lead against the FDU Devils with a 2-0 lead at the 10:08 minute mark. DiNapoli ended the Devils' scoring drought with 5:00 minutes remaining in the first quarter. The Aggies answered by extending their lead to 3-1, but the Devils responded, evening the score to end the first quarter with FDU goals from Medina. 

During the second quarter, the Devils earned their first lead of the game at the 5:42 time stamp with 3 goals from Ashton. FDU scorers Henri and Zappia finished the quarter and brought the score to a 4-point lead, 9-5. 

In the third quarter, the Aggies began to catch up to the Devils as they got within a 1-point deficit at the 10:57 minute mark. Medina and Ashton kept the Devils at a distance from the Aggies as they collectively put up 4 goals in the third. The Devils finished the third quarter with a close 2-point lead, 13-11, as they went into the fourth quarter. 

FDU started the quarter strong with a goal from Ashton at the 12:38 time stamp. The Aggies were then able to even the score 15-15 with only 2:58 remaining of game play. Neither the Devils nor the Aggies successfully landed a final goal in the cage, forcing the game into overtime. 

During the 3-minute overtime, FDU and Delaware Valley fought for the win, but neither team could score for the first minutes. It was not until the final 7 seconds that Medina earned the game-winning goal for FDU during a free position attempt, 16-15 Devils win. 
 
As a team, FDU-Florham took 42 shots, 24 ground balls, and 20 draw controls.
