Hartford got on the board early as they scored a goal within the first minute of gameplay. The Hawks extended their lead at the 8:33 minute mark but the Devils got a shot off at the 7:59 time stamp from Ashton, taking the score to 2-1. The Hawks answered quickly to the FDU goal and brought the score to 5-1 to end the first period.
The Hawks furthered their lead by 9 points as the score reached 10-1 at the 5:01 minute mark in the second quarter. The quarter finished with another Hawk goal, but Kristen Mellon landed the Devils one more point before the second quarter finished, bringing the score to 11-3.

Three FDU goals in a row happened in the first 5 minutes of play, coming from Zappia, Ashton, and Medina, which closed the gap to 11-6. Hartford responded with a goal which brought the score to 12-6. The Devils were able to get one final shot off with less than a minute remaining, coming from Medina, assisted by Knight. The FDU Devils unfortunately fell to the Hartford Haws, 12-7.
