Madison, NJ (March 29) – In its spring home opener, the FDU-Florham Men's Tennis team hosted Manhattanville for a non-conference match, being held at Drew University. The Devils saw their first win of the season by a 6-1 score.
FDU-Florham secured the only point in the doubles portion with
Matthew Emery (Howell, NJ) and
Ronald Duval (Old Bridge, NJ) winning in Singles #1 by a 6-2 score.
Kelvin Liwag (Marlboro, NJ) and
Nick Weglinski (Wayne, NJ) cleaned up in Doubles #2 with a 6-3 win.
Leading Singles #1 in hope of a win as Emery, but he was just short with a 7-5 score in the first set, but dropped the second by a 6-1 score. Duval took a strong swing in Singles #2 as he won by set scores of 6-0 and 7-6 on the tiebreaker.
Liwag helped by adding another point for FDU-Florham in Singles #3 by winning sets by scores of 6-3, 6-1. Both Weglinski and
Chase Miller (Freehold, NJ) only let their opponent score one point in each set. Weglinski won Singles #4 with 6-1, 6-0 scores, and Miller won by a 6-1, 6-1 score in Singles #5.
FDU-Florham next match will be on the road at Wilkes on Thursday, April 3 at 3:00 pm for non-conference action.
