Baseball Drops Game One to Arcadia, 8-2

Madsion, NJ (March 21) – The FDU-Florham baseball team returned home to face off against Arcadia in the first of three MAC Freedom games. Unfortunately, they couldn't get the job done, as they lost by a score of 8-2.

John Rolli (Long Valley, NJ) had a decent game, going 1-4 with 1 RBI.  Jack Giovenco (Allentown, Pa.) continued his good season, as he went 1-2 with a run scored. Parker Muratore (Branchburg, NJ) also did well, going 1-2 with a run scored.

The Knights put up the first three runs of the game, the first of them coming from a groundout in the top of the first, and the latter two coming from a double and a single in the top of the third.

The Devils responded in the bottom half of the inning with two runs of their own. Muratore walked to start out the inning, then advanced from a Giovenco single. Both runners advanced on a wild pitch, and Rolli knocked in Muratore off an RBI single into left field. Giovenco later scored from another wild pitch, and after three FDU would only be behind by one.

Sadly, that's all the runs that the Devils could muster. Arcadia put two more runs up in the top of the fourth from two singles, and then three runs in the eighth inning from a single and a stolen base at home plate. At the end of the game, Arcadia won by a score of 8-2.

Eddie Appollina (Annandale, NJ) went for 3.2 innings of work, while striking out four batters. Alex DeSimone (Long Valley, NJ) had a great game, going for four innings while striking out six batters. Tyler Gaetano (Staten Island, NY) got the last out of the eighth inning, and Colby Craig (Chester, NJ) pitched a scoreless ninth inning.

FDU-Florham will travel to Glenside, Pa. to close their series against Arcadia with a doubleheader on March 22nd. First pitch of game one will be at 12:00 PM.
