Baseball Tripped Up Against NJCU, 10-3

Madison, N.J. (February 22) – The FDU-Florham baseball team (1-2) hosted NCJU for the third game out of seven in their homestand. Unfortunately, they were tripped up, losing by a score of 10-3.

Jack Giovenco (Allentown, Pa.) had the best day at the plate, going three-for-five. John Rolli (Long Valley, NJ) hit a home run for the first of his and the Devils season. Daniel Cowles (Colts Neck, NJ) lashed a double and scored a run.

NJCU scored one run in each of the first two innings before FDU evened up the score. Cowles punched a double over the center fielders head before Rolli crushed a homer over the right center wall to make the game 2-2.

NJCU put up the next five runs of the game, scoring one run in the third inning off a single, three runs in the fourth inning off an rbi triple, and after a few quiet innings, one more in the seventh inning to make the game 8-3.

FDU loaded the bases in the bottom of the seventh, and scored a run off a Ryan Johnston (Garden City, NY) but could not convert more than that. NJCU put up two more runs in the ninth inning, and FDU fell to NJCU by a score of 10-3.

Evan Sabo (Hillsborough, NJ) started the game for the Devils, and worked through three innings, giving up three runs with two of them being earned while striking out one. Drew Seawell (Prince Frederick, Md.) pitched the next three innings, and gave up three earned runs. Jake Stollar (Flemington, NJ) came out for 2.1 innings, and gave up four runs, with only two of them being earned, and got two strikeouts.
