Madison, NJ (February 15) FDU-Florham Women's Basketball celebrated senior day, and took on Misericordia at home. Unfortunately, they were defeated by the Cougars, 74-59.
FDU-Florham (7-16, 4-8 MAC Freedom) was led by senior,
Kolby Lynch (Morristown, NJ), scoring 21 points and earning seven rebounds.

Misericordia's (3-17, 1-8 MAC Freedom) best player on the court was Ava Cirigliano, who scored 15 points.
Before the game, FDU honored it's two graduate students and seniors,
Kolby Lynch and
Destiny Knight.
The game started off with a three-pointer from Misericordia, but the Devils responded with eight points in a row, by a layup and a free throw from
Julia Vazquez (Bound Brook, NJ), a three-pointer from
Shannon Tighe (Wayne, NJ), and a layup from
Christina Centeno (Bayonne, NJ). Misericordia answered with eight straight points to reclaim the lead, but FDU would not go down that easily, as Lynch hit free throws and Vazquez hit a fastbreak layup to go on top by one. Misericordia closed the quarter scoring five straight points, and after ten minutes, the Cougars led by a score of 16-12.
Destiny Knight (Philadelphia, PA) started the second quarter with a tip-in, but Misericordia responded with a layup. Lynch hit a jumper to cut the deficit, and a free throw by
Bianca Sode (Kenilworth, NJ) hit a free throw to cut it to one. The Cougars made a layup, but Lynch came right back with a layup. Misericordia made the next three points, and the two teams traded the next six possessions, with
Kristen Mellon (Southampton, NJ), Sode, and
Gabrielle Walker (Old Bridge, NJ) hitting jumpers for the Devils. However, a free throw and a buzzer-beater three-pointer for Misericordia closed the half, with Misericordia extending their lead with a score of 34-25.
A tip-in from Lynch started the second half, but Misericordia scored the next straight points. Vazquez hit a jumper to cut the lead, and after a Cougars layup, Lynch also hit a jumper. Vazquez added to her total after three points scored from Misericordia, and after Lynch hit a jumper, Centeno knocked down a three-pointer, shrinking the lead down to seven. Unfortunately, Misericordia then went on a nine-point scoring run, which was ended by a jumper from Lynch. The Cougars closed the quarter out with two free throws, and with ten minutes left to play, Misericordia led with a score of 56-40.
The fourth quarter saw lots of points from both sides. Misericordia hit a jumper to start it off, which was answered by a three-pointer from Tighe. Misericordia hit a layup, but Lynch hit one of her own and a free throw. The Cougars then went on a five-point scoring run, before Walker hit a tip-in. That started off a six-point scoring run for the Devils, as Lynch and Sode hit jumpers as well. A three-pointer from Misericordia was answered by Lynch with a layup. Misericordia made back-to-back jumpers before Tighe made one of her own. Misericordia made their last points on a jumper, and FDU made theirs on a free throw by Vazquez and a layup by Sode. When the clock hit zero, Misericordia won by a score of 74-59.
FDU-Florham shot 38.5% (25-65) from the floor, 18.8% (3-16) from three-point range, and 75.0% (6-8) from the free throw line, while Misericordia shot 48.4% (30-62) from the floor, 46.7% (7-15) from three-point range and 77.8% (7-9) from the free throw line.
FDU-Florham score more points off turnovers (13-11), more second chance points (14-8), and more points on the fast break (5-3), while Misericordia scored more bench points (35-13) and more points in the paint (36-34).
The Devils will travel to Arcadia to take on the Knights on February 18
th. Tip-Off will be at 7:00 PM.
