Men's Soccer Drops OT Match to William Paterson in ECAC Quarterfinals

MADISON, N.J. – The FDU-Florham men's soccer team fell 3-2 in overtime to the William Paterson Pioneers Sunday afternoon in the quarterfinals of the 2025 ECAC D3 Men's Soccer Championship.

DEVILS HIGHLIGHTS
  • Goalkeeper Rui C. Rosette Jr. made his second-career collegiate start and tallied eight saves on afternoon.
  • Genti Dauti provided all the offense for FDU as the junior netted both goals for the Devils. He finished with eight shots with four on frame.
  • Five other Devils recorded one shot each including FDU's only other shot on goal from Vincenzo Gancio
  • Christian Adame and Gancio recorded an assist each on Dauti's two goals.
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • After a relatively quiet first 10:00 of Sunday's match, Dauti put the Devils ahead 1-0 in the 36' on an assist from Adame. Less than 2:00 later, Dauti extended the FDU lead to 2-0 as he found the back of the Pioneers goal for a second time on an assist from Gancio this time around.
  • The Devils took a 2-0 lead into the break, but after an FDU foul near the top of the box in the 54', William Paterson's Matty Escobar cut the Devils lead in half as he found the back of the FDU net to make it a 2-1 match.
  • Then, in the 67', with the Pioneers still trailing, Excobar found the back of the FDU net one more time to knot the match at 2-2 and force OT as neither squad scored for the rest of regulation.
  • In the 10:00, Golden Goal style OT, the first overtime period went scoreless, but in the second OT period, Escobar took a shot almost identical to his previous goal-scoring shot in the 54' but connected with the crossbar this time. The ball ricochetted back out to William Paterson's Davide Zamuner who then found the back of the FDU goal to end the match.
GAME NOTES
  • This was the sixth time in program history the Devils finished with 11 or more wins in a season.
  • This was the eighth season since 1999 FDU scored 40 or more goals.
  • 2025 was also only the third time since 1999 the Devils scored 50 or more goals in a season.
FDU concludes its 2025 season with an 11-4-5 record, highlighted by a 5-1-2 record on the road.
