GALLOWAY, N.J. – The FDU-Florham volleyball team split its matches Saturday afternoon at the Stockton Tri-Match as the Devils swept CCNY 3-0 after falling to Stockton 3-0 earlier in the afternoon.
DEVILS HIGHLIGHTS
- Genvieve Fitch tallied 12 kills, 12 digs and one ace in the win.
- Tayla O'Connor recorded three aces for the Devils and one assist.
- Amaya Ocasio led the Devils in assists with 28 and in digs with 17 on the day.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Set 1 was back-and-forth for much of the set, but the Devils pulled away with a 7-1 run capped off by consecutive kills from O'Connor, Hannah Weinman, and Fitch to take a 21-14 lead, eventually coming away with a 25-17 win.
- Set 2 saw similar action as the first set as a 9-1 Devils run put FDU ahead 15-9, but the Beavers put themselves within five points at 20-15 after attack error from O'Connor. Unphased, the Devils finished the set with five kills including two from O'Connor to take Set 2 25-17 once again.
- FDU dominated Set 3, taking an immediate 6-1 lead and eventually taking the third set 25-13 emphasized by eight straight points to finish the set.
GAME NOTES
- Saturday's win against CCNY Fitch's 14th match with 10 or more kills.
- This was Ocasio's ninth match in a row with 20 or more assists and her 14th with 10 or more digs.
UP NEXT
The Devils return to the floor on Tuesday, Oct. 28 as FDU heads to Wilkes-Barre, Pa. to take King's. Match time is set for 7 p.m.
