Men's Soccer Falls to Stevens 3-2 at Home

MADISON, N.J. – The FDU-Florham men's soccer team lost a hard-fought battle to Stevens University Wednesday night as the Devils fell in the final minutes 3-2 to their MAC Freedom foes on Robert T. Shields Field.

DEVILS HIGHLIGHTS
  • Diego Trujillo scored one goal and added one assist on the night.
  • Genti Dauti scored his first goal of the year on his only shot of the match.
  • Ryan Maguire also added an assist to aid the FDU offense.
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • FDU was on the board before most people found their seats Wednesday night as a ball deflected off a Ducks defender found its way to Maguire who on one touch sent it to Trujillo, who gathered and fired with his right foot and found the back of the Stevens net to put the Devils up 1-0 in the second minute of the match.
  • The Ducks answered just as time expired before the break as Stevens Christian DeOliveira found the back of the FDU net on an assist from Thomas Smith to knot the match at 1-1.
  • In the second half, the Devils offense kept a better pace with the Ducks than it did in the first half as FDU managed five shots to Stevens' six. One of these shots gave the Devils a 2-1 lead as Dauti netted his first goal of the year on an assist from Trujillo in the 60'.
  • Less than 5:00 later, the Ducks answered once again with a goal from Lucas Mendes on an assist off a corner kick from Luke Carey to again tie the match now at 2-2.
  • The Ducks took the lead for good in the 85' as Ducks penalty kick goal sealed the win for Stevens.
GAME NOTES
  • Wednesday's match ended FDU's 13 match unbeaten streak with their last loss coming in the first match of the year.
  • Trujillo has now scored at least one goal in eight of FDU's 13 matches.
