Football Falls to Delaware Valley

MADISON, N.J. – The FDU-Florham football team fell to Delaware Valley University 41-14, Saturday afternoon at home. 

DEVILS HIGHLIGHTS
  • The Devils were led on the ground by running back Kwanir Edwards as he totaled 112 yards rushing on the afternoon with a long run of 16 yards and one touchdown.
  • Quarterback Matthew Yascko threw for 219 yards and one touchdown on the day. 
  • Keon Ebanks tallied just one reception, but he made the most of it being a 55-yard touchdown pass from Yascko. 
  • Adam Noufal led the defense with seven solo tackles and Matt Heineman added four tackles and a half sack. 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Devils came up short in the first half as FDU went into the break down 28-0 after allowing 14 points in both the first and second quarters to the Aggies. 
  • The Aggies began the third quarter with their fifth touchdown of the game on a 57-yard reception from Alex Rufe to make it 35-0 deficit for the Devils. 
  • The deficit grew to 41-0 with 13:33 left in the third quarter but the Devils answered with Ebanks' 55-yarder to cut the score to 41-14 heading to the fourth quarter. 
  • In the fourth, a 41-yard completion to Terry Andrike Jr. set up Edwards and the Devils to cut the deficit to 41-14 as Edwards plowed his way through the Aggies defense for a seven-yard rushing touchdown. 
  • FDU held the Aggies scoreless in the fourth quarter but fell 41-14. 
GAME NOTES
  • Saturday's game was the second time the Devils defense held an opponent scoreless in the second half. 
  • Edwards' 112 rushing yards are his second most on the season thus far and he is now 248 yards away from 3000-career rushing yards. 
  • Ebanks's 55-yard touchdown reception was his first-career collegiate reception and touchdown.
UP NEXT 
The Devils return to action on Saturday, Oct. 25 as the Devils head to Reading, Pa. for a MAC bout with Albright. Kick-off is set for noon.
