Montclair, NJ (January 3) – The FDU-Florham Women's Swimming Team started 2025 with a non-conference meet at Montcliar State, but were not able to secure the win over the Red Hawks as they saw a 147-87 loss on the road.
Julianna Fazzio (Glassboro, NJ) saw the only first place finish of the day for the Devils as she was crowned first in the 100 IM with a time of 1:06.07. She stood a step down on the podium for second in her other two events including the 100 fly (1:04.89) and the 50 fly (28.37).
Jessica Mooney (Cranford, N.J.) claimed her place on the podium for third in the 100 back (1:12.13) and 500 free (6:16.56). She took sixth in her final event of the 200 free with a time of 2:19.85.
Katelyn Plank (Bridgewater, N.J.) stayed on the podium for all her events with a solid time of 57.57 in the 100 free for second and two third place finished in the 50 back (30.08) and the 50 fly (28.52).
Magda Konopka (Paramus, NJ) stood tall with two-second place finishes on the day in the 50 free (25.85) and 100 breast (1:14.61). Her final effort was good enough for third in the 50 breast with a time of 33.73.
Olivia Glenfield (Howell, MI) gave a two, three, four place finish in her events starting with the 100 IM where she touched the wall for a time of 1:10.95. Her third-place finish came in the 100 breast with a time of 1:17.84 and her fourth-place finish with a time of 2:12.39 in the 200 free.
Lauren Stone (Middletown, NJ) claimed a double-place finish of fifth in the 50 breast (35.54) and the 50 free (27.00). Her third event was the 100 breast and the junior recorded a time of 1:18.45 for fourth.
Caitlyn Kramaritsch (Roxbury, NJ) best finish was seen in the 500 free when she clocked a 6:09.36 for second place. She continued to fall but was ever so close as she held fifth in the 100 free (1:00.80) and sixth in the 50 back (34.70).
Gosia Swat (North Cadwell, NJ) only completed in two events including the 50 breast for a time of 42.18 and the 50 free for a time of 30.81. Both clocked performances earned her tenth place.
Ashley Smith (Tinton Falls, NJ) started strong in the 200 free and finished with a time of 2:17.10 for fifth place, and then took a slight step back to capture sixth in the 100 free with a time of 1:01.84.
Shalma Lopez (Union City, NJ) saw two fourth-place finishes in the 50 back (34.36) and the 100 back (1:16.25). She made a mad dash for a higher placement in the 50 free but found herself in sixth (30.01) when the water settled.
Eve Amalfitano (Brigantine, NJ) unfortunately did not account for points in her events as she placed eleventh in both with a 44.57 in the 50 breast and a 33.65 in the 50 free.
Olivia Case (Cream Ridge, NJ) produced her best performance in the 100 back when she swam for a 1:06.12 and second place. Her next best showing was during the 50 fly as she touched the wall for a time of 30.79. Case rounded the meet off with a 1:08.96 in the 100 fly for fifth.
Naia McGinn (Pleasant Borough, NJ) was seen in both the 50 breast and free. She clocked a 33.91 in the free and a 50.68 in the breast with both performances earning her twelfth.
Isabel Thierman (Belmar, NJ) took the podium spot in the 100 IM for third, with a time of 1:19.53 and ended the meet with a sixth-place finish in the 50 breast with a time of 38.24.
The Devil's has many teams compete in the relay and medley events but saw Konopka, Fazzio, Plank, and Stone take second in the 200 free relay with a time of 1:45.55. They then almost repeated events and took second in the 200 medley with Plank, Fazzio, Glenfield, and Konopka (1:56.29).
For their first and only home meet of the 2024-25 season, FDU-Florham will host Stevenson on Friday, January 17 at 4:00pm. The Devils also look to honor their four seniors for their commitment to the program, in and out of the pool.
