Women's Basketball Halted By Arcadia, 79-64

Madsion, NJ (January 29) FDU-Florham Women's Basketball welcomed Arcadia to Roger Kindel Court. Unfortunately, they could not come away with the win, as they were halted by a score of 79-64.

FDU-Florham (6-12, 3-4 MAC Freedom) was led by Kolby Lynch (Morristown, NJ), who scored 15 points. Lynch also managed to secure eight rebounds.
 
Arcadia's (11-7, 5-2 MAC Freedom) best player on the court was Hanna Rhoades, who scored 20 points.

The first quarter was extremely close the entire time. FDU struck first, with Julia Vazquez (Bound Brook, NJ) hitting a jumper. After five straight points scored by the Knights, Christina Centeno (Bayonne, NJ) hit  a three pointer to tie the game up once again. Lynch hit back to back jumpers to maintain the Devils lead, and Arcadia tied it up again, Vazquez and Shannon Tighe (Wayne, NJ) hit back-to-back jumpers to take a four point lead. Two Knight's free throws were responded to by a jumper from Centeno. Arcadia hit one more shot before the end of the quarter. After ten minutes, the Devils led by a score of 15-13.

The second quarter is where Arcadia broke through. After a free throw from Gabrielle Walker (Old Bridge, NJ) increased the Devils lead to three, the Knights scored the next 11 points of the game, going up by eight points. Free throws from Lynch and Kristen Mellon (Southampton, NJ) limited the damage, but Arcadia hit three three-pointers in a row, expanding their lead to 14. Bianca Sode (Kenilworth, NJ) hit a layup to quiet the scoring run, Two Knights free throws were matched with a Lynch layup, and an Arcadia layup was matched with free throws from Vazquez. Lynch hit a jumper to close the quarter, and at halftime, the Devils were down by 10, with the score being 37-27.

A three-pointer from Centeno opened the second half, but Arcadia went on to score the next ten points to balloon their lead to 17. A three-pointer from Tighe and free throws from Centeno limited the damage, and after a layup made by Arcadia, FDU fought back, scoring the next five points courtesy of Vazquez and Tighe. Sadly, Arcadia hit three three-pointers in a row to increase their lead to 18. A jumper from Lynch and a three from Centeno cut their lead, but Arcadia closed the quarter on an 8-2 run, with the lone points for the Devils coming from Walker. With ten minutes left to play, Arcadia held a 66-47 lead.

Lynch hit back-to-back shots to cut Arcadia's lead to start the fourth quarter. A jumper from Arcadia was responded to with a jumper from Walker, and Vazquez hit a jumper after an Arcadia free throw. More Arcadia free throws were responded to from a three-pointer by Vazquez, but Arcadia fired back with a three of their own. Sode hit a jumper before Arcadia hit another three. FDU closed the game strong, scoring the last four of six baskets, with Jasmine Revlosky (Whitehouse Station, NJ) and Gabrielle Mazzotte (Westport, NY) scoring the last few points for the Devils, but at the end of the game, Arcadia came home with the win, outscoring the Devils 79-64.

FDU-Florham shot 41.8% (23-55) from the floor, 46.2% (6-13) from three-point range, and 50.0% (12-24) from the free throw line, while Arcadia shot 35.7% (25-7) from the floor, 31.3% (15-48) from three-point range and 73.7% (14-19) from the free throw line.

Lebanon Valley won every statistical category, scoring more off turnovers (19-4), second chance points (23-3), bench points (12-11), points in the paint (18-16), and fast break points (16-4).

The Devils will travel to King's to kick off the second part of their conference schedule on February 1st. Tip-Off will be at 1:00 PM.
