Dallas, PA (January 18) - The FDU Men's Basketball team fell to Misericordia on the Road after the Cougars opened each half with offensive dominance.
Jaqwan Washington (Bryan, TX) led the Devils with 11 points and 9 rebounds. Following Washington was Ethan Klueh (Orlando, FL.) scoring 8 and Amir Williams (Bronx, NY) with 6.
Misericordia opened the first half with a 10-point unanswered run on FDU and continued to score on the Devils, totaling 14-0 at the 14:55 mark. Klueh broke the Devils scoring drought and put them on the board with a 3-pointer. The Devils worked to gain offensive possession to close the 15-point gap between them and the Cougars. FDU Baskets from Washington, Carson Woods (Phoenix, AZ.), Christopher Smith (Florham Park, NJ), and Mac Creek (Louisville, KY.) added 14 points to the Devils score. With 6:31 left in the half, the Devils closed the gap to a 5-point difference with the score 17-22. Washington landed 2 free throws and Klueh scored his 2nd 3-pointer, which brought the score to 22-33, Cougars lead, at the half.
During the second half, the Cougars opened with a 6-4 run, with the 2 Devils baskets coming from Adam Ziegler (West Grove, PA) and Smith. Misericordia was up 41-27 at the 14:07 minute mark. The Devils were within 10 points of the Cougars lead with 13:44 on the clock but Misericordia rose 18 points ahead at the 10:42 time stamp. Devils baskets from Ziegler, Williams, Dart Siddons (Hillside, N.J.), and Washington brought the score to 62-42, Misericordia lead, with 3:51 left to play. FDU finished the half with 3-pointers coming from first-years Gino Romano (Roseland, N.J.) and Francis Denvir (Holland Township, N.J.), ending the contest 74-53, Misericordia victory.
As a team, FDU-Florham shot 31.5 percent (17-54) from the floor, 21.6 percent (6-21) from three-point range, and 72.2 percent (13-18) from the free throw line. They totaled 18 points in the paint, 28 off the bench, and 7 off turnovers.
Misericordia shot 40.6 percent (26-64) from the floor, 19.4 percent (6-31) from three-point range, and 88.9 percent (16-18) from the free throw line. They totaled 30 points in the paint, 24 off the bench, and 24 off turnovers.
FDU-Florham will return home on Wednesday, January 22nd as they go against Lebanon Valley. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 pm.
