Madison, NJ (September 4) – The lone goal by Muhlenberg in the second half eventually proved to be enough to secure the win as the FDU-Florham women's soccer team fell on the road, 1-0 on Wednesday night.
Records: FDU-Florham (1-1-0); Muhlenberg (1-2-0)
Location: Madison, NJ (Robert T. Shields Field)
The non-conferee match started in favor of FDU-Florham as a shot was taken by
Ashley Dietrich (Middletown, NJ), which was later followed by two corner kicks. Unfortunately, all three opportunities were missed by the Devils to put a goal on the scoreboard early.
In the 24th minute of the match, a goal was added to the scoreboard, but it was Kean who chipped it over the Devils' keeper for their first goal of the match. FDU-Florham ended the half with six total shots.
Kean started the half on the attack as they accounted for three shots before capitalizing on their fourth shot in the 74th minute of the match, 2-0. FDU-Florham was firing on all cylinders as six shots were recorded to avoid the shutout. The Cougars goalie remained on top of her game, not letting a single Devils shot past, ultimately resulting in the 2-0 loss for FDU-Florham.
Junior goalkeeper
Talia Scheffer (Smithtown, NY) saw her first collegiate start and accounted for six saves in the non-conference match. Kean goalie, Abigail Wing, recorded seven saves in the Cougars' win.
FDU-Florham will take a business trip to William Paterson on Saturday, September 7 for a 12:00 pm non-conference contest.
