Aston, PA (September 27) – The FDU-Florham Women's Soccer team played under the Friday Night lights of the Neumann Knights and sealed the 2-0 non-conference win, with both goals being scored in the second half.
Records: FDU-Florham (6-4-0); Neumann (4-6-0)
Location: Aston, PA (Turf Stadium)
FDU Goal Scorers:
Ashley Dietrich (5),
Emma Letizia (3)
The first half showed no score for either team but did show the offensive intensity of FDU-Florham as they marked 12 shots. The Devils' defense was also on full display as Neumann was only able to record one shot in the first 45 minutes.
It was a matter of time before FDU-Florham found another opportunity to strike, and this time it came from off one of the eight total corner kick opportunities. Two minutes into the second half, first-year
Georgia Oberman (Jefferson, NJ) sent the ball in toward the goal and found the foot of
Ashley Dietrich (Middletown, NJ) who was able to bounce it over the goalie's head and to the back of the net for her second game-winner of the season.
The Devils iced the game with 16 minutes remaining with
Emma Letizia's
(North Haledon, NJ) third goal of the season. The senior was fed the pass off a free kick from
Mia Lopez (Rockaway, NJ) who placed the ball just right to lead Letizia to the opportunity.
FDU-Florham held strong for the remained of the game and a 2-0 non-conference win after a solid showing from the defense as they only allowed three additional shots to get past to the goalkeeper.
Junior
Ava Gianni (North Brunswick, NJ) was seen in between the posts for the full 90 minutes and was only required to make one save on the day.
For their next match, FDU-Florham will be defending Robert T. Shields Field on Tuesday, October 1 as they are set to host Alvernia for a 7:00 pm non-conference contest.
