Bronx, NY (September 12) – In Thursday evening non-conference action the FDU-Florham Volleyball team (4-4) traveled to  Mount Saint Vincent (0-4) in search of an overall record-evening game, and were able to secure the win with a 3-0 score over the Dolphins.
 
Helping secure the Thursday evening win was Genevieve Fitch (Charleston, SC) as she played the defensive side of the net with 23 digs, accounted for 2 aces and 6 kills. Senior Lilli Nawrotzki (Flemington, NJ) helped on the offensive attack with 15 assists.

Set 1: The heat was felt from the very first serve as FDU-Florham did not secure the first point of the match, but was able to capitalize soon after on a 9-2 run. Mount Saint Vincent was unable to keep up as the score continued to climb after multiple Devil kills, and soon to be too far out of reach of the Dolphins' control, ending the set by  25-18 score

Set 2: After losing the first point of the second set, FDU-Florham kept the heat rising as they were able to pull ahead to a 10-5 score after a service ace by Tayla O'Connor (Roxbury, NJ). The Devils kept their pace on the offensive attack and doubled Mount Saint Vincent's points in the set, 18-9. The Dolphins were able to find a minute of offensive momentum but were not able to hold on for long as the Devils closed out the set with a 25-18 score once again.

Set 3: The Devils dropped their guard for the few points to start set three as Mount Saint Vincent claimed the first four points and took an 8-3 lead. FDU fought back and saw the set tied on five different occasions before pulling ahead after big kills by Genevieve and Gabbie Hart ( Cherry Hill, NJ). FDU-Florham was able to escape the watery trap of the Dolphins to secure set three by a 25-16 score and overall claim the non-conference match with a 3-0 victory.


FDU-Florham will be back in action on Saturday, September 14 when they visit Bard for a tri-match with Mount Saint Mary. The Devils will face host Bard at 11:00 AM and Mount Saint Mary at 1:00 PM.
