Madison, NJ (April 27)- Before the last MAC Freedom contest of the season, The FDU-Florham Men's Lacrosse team honored its four seniors and hosted the Misericordia Cougars on Robert T. Shields Field but unfortunately capped the season with a 19-4 loss.
FDU-Florham (1-15, 0-7 MAC Freedom) as a team accounted for one goal in each of the four quarters and saw senior
Nicholas Perillo (Jackson, NJ) accumulate two goals and one assist as well as four groundballs.
Misericordia (9-8, 4-3 MAC Freedom) had three players with over four goals but Jared Pelliccione led the Cougars with five goals and one assist, along with one groundball.
It was the Cougars who recorded the first goal of the game as they scored just a little over four minutes in and continued by adding another three goals. At the 7:47 minute mark, the Devils worked the ball around, eventually finding
N. Perillo to net FDU-Florham's first goal of the game. Misericordia sent the ball to the back of the net another two times before the quarter expired.
Misericordia started out on a 2-0 run within the first four minute of the second quarter until
N. Perillo received the ball again, but this time finding
Jarrett Dugenio (Bridgewater, NJ) an opportunity to score the Devils' second goal. Before the halftime approached, the Cougars added five goals for the scoreboard to read 13-2.
FDU-Florham's defense awoke after halftime as the Devils spread out the Cougar's next four goals during a 12-minute period. With just under three minutes remaining first-year
Luke Dugan (Washington, NJ) weaved his way to the net for the Devils' third goal and lone goal of the quarter, 17-3. Misericordia claimed the 19th goal before a total time of 45 minutes elapsed during the game.
The defense was strong on both sides of the field as FDU-Florham claimed the first goal of the quarter and
N. Perillo netted his second of the game. Misericordia was not able to score in the final 15 minutes of MAC Freedom action but they did secure the 19-4 win over the Devils.
Seen in goal for the Devils was sophomore
Ben Weintraub (Clark, NJ) as he accounted for a season-high of 13 saves in FDU-Florham final contest of the season.
As a team, FDU-Florham compiled 40 shots, 31 ground balls and won 18 face offs. The Devils also finished 14-for-22 on clear attempts and 1-for-5 on extra-man opportunities.
Misericordia as a team, generated 44 shots, 31 ground balls, and won 18 face offs. The team was also 17-for-19 on clear attempts and 4-for-7 on extra-man opportunities.
