Softball Complete Sweep at King's with a 7-6 Victory

Wilkes-Barre, PA (April 26) – After postponing game two on April 10 due to darkness, The FDU-Florham Softball team (16-15, 5-7 MAC Freedom) completed it's sweep against the King's Monarchs (12-20, 3-9 MAC Freedom) with a 7-6 victory in MAC Freedom play.

Stepping up the plate and sending the ball to right center field for an RBI triple was King's. The Monarchs were then able to bring in another two runs after a sacrifice fly to center field and a single to right field, each for the RBI.

King's added their fourth run in the second inning but FDU-Florham was ready to score in the fourth inning as Riley Signor (Media, PA) started the momentum for the Devils with a triple to right center for the RBI. Jada Lambright (Clifton Park, NY) doubled to left center for a second RBI and first-year Kylee Berg (Bordentown, NJ) tied the game with a 2 RBI triple to right-center field.

The Devils proceed to keep their bats hot throughout the remained of the fourth inning as Kristen Tigar (Hazlet, NJ) helped claim the lead for the FDU with a base hit, and Abigail Rodriguez (Woodbridge, NJ) closed the inning with an RBI double to right center for the scoreboard to read 7-4.

The Monarchs saw an effort to close the scoring gap in the fourth by adding a sacrifice fly RBI in the bottom of the fourth inning and came within a run during the sixth inning.

FDU-Florham defended the field in the final inning of MAC Freedom play to help secure the 7-6 win and a full series sweep over the Monarchs for the first time since the 2018 season.

FDU-Florham saw two pitches in the circle for the duration of the game, but graduate student Bianca DiSanto (Colonia, NJ) (2-1) secured the win for the Devils after throwing five strikeouts in six innings while facing 28 batters.

The Devils will have a short recovery time as they are set to host Delaware Valley on Saturday, April 27 for the final regular-season MAC Freedom doubleheader. The first pitches will occur at 1pm and 3pm.
