Women’s Lacrosse Downs Delaware Valley, 23-10

Madison, NJ  (April 20)Jenna Ranney (Forest Hill, MD)  dominated on the field to help FDU-Florham Women's Lacrosse (5-7, 2-3 MAC Freedom) down Delaware Valley (5-10, 1-5 MAC Freedom) 23-10 on Saturday afternoon.
 
Ranney led the Devils with nine points consisting of eight goals and one assist.  Julianna Medina (Linwood, NJ) followed with six goals and two assists. Alison Kozik(Ellington, CT) got the win in the cage for the Devils saving nine of the 19 shots faced.
 
Kyra McKeeegan led the Aggies with three goals and two assists. Emily Drake got the loss in the net saving nine shots.
 
Medina helped the Devils get the early lead 40 seconds into the matchup 1-0, but for the remainder of the quarter both teams exchanged goals, and the quarter ended with FDU at a 7-4 advantage. The Devils saw goals from Ranney, Medina, and Alexis Ashton (Blairstown, NJ). The Devils got the ball rolling early in the second quarter as they went on a 5-0 run to make the score 12-4 that included goals from Ashton, Ranney, Medina, Claudia Zappia (South Brunswick, NJ), and Abigail Fortemps (Denville, NJ).  The Devils outscored the Aggies f4-3 for the remainder of the second quarter as they went into halftime at a 16-7 advantage.
 
FDU-Florham came out of halftime on fire as they went on to score 4 unanswered goals to extend their lead 20-7. The Devils saw goals from Medina, Ranney, and Anacapri Slack (Voorhees, NJ). Fairleigh Dickinson and Delaware Valley exchanged goals for the remainder of the game and the Devils were able to down the Aggies 23-10.
 
As a team, FDU-Florham took 37 shots, 14 ground balls, and 25 draw controls. The Devils also went 13-15 on clear attempts.
 
Delaware Valley totaled 27 shots on goal, 18 ground balls, and 12 draw controls.
 
FDU-Florham is scheduled to continue MAC Freedom play as they are set to host Lebanon Valley College on Wednesday, April 24 at 4:00 pm. This game will be in partnership with FDU-Florham's chapter of The Hidden Opponent where they will be bringing awareness to student athletes and mental health.
