Union, NJ (March 4) – The FDU-Florham Softball team (0-2) traveled to the Kean Cougars (3-0) for their first non-conference doubleheader of the season, but will return to Madison with two losses as Cougars defeated the Devils by scores of 16-1 and 14-3.

Game 1:

With home-field advantage, the Kean Cougars were able to put up the first runs of the game within the first inning as they collected three RBI to go up 3-0.

The Devils settled into their stance and were able to add their first run of the season in the second inning. Sophomore
Abigail Rodriguez (Woodbridge, NJ) found the opportunity to sneak home as the attention was on a run-down between first and second base, and the throw to home was off target.

Kean added their fourth and fifth runs in the bottom of the second inning as a home-run upped the score to 5-1.  The Cougars kept swinging and connecting with the ball as 11 runs were added between the third and fourth innings.

FDU-Florham's lone hit of the day came from senior
Heather Priante (Howell, NJ) as she found a gap in the right field for a triple. Unfortunately, the Devils' momentum was stopped as the game ended in the fifth inning with a final score of 16-1, in favor of Kean.

In the circle for the Devils was
Bianca DiSanto (Colombia, NJ) (0-1) who accounted for three strikeouts while facing 22 batters for the win. Pitching for Kean was Nikki Lusnia (2-0), who pitched for 5 innings and recorded five strikeouts.
