Myrtle Beach, SC (March 10) – On their first day of the Fast Pitch Dreams Classic, The FDU-Florham Softball (1-3) secured an 8-3 victory over Maine-Presque (0-2), but dropped game two of the day to Minnesota-Morris (2-4) by a score of 4-0.
Game 1:
As the Devils found their footing on the field in the first two innings against Maine-Presque Isle, ball and bat started to connect in the third inning as
Jada Lambright (Clifton Park, NY) sent the ball up the middle bringing in two RBI.
Maine-Presque Isle recorded their first run of the game in the fourth inning as a fielder's choice sent the runner on third home, 3-1.
FDU-Florham carried its momentum into the sixth inning with
Riley Signor (Media, PA) placing the ball into left-center field for the first run of the inning. The Devils brought in five more runs to up the score 8-1.
Maine-Presque Isle added another two runs in the seventh inning but was not able to commit to the comeback as the Devils threw them a 8-3 loss.
In the circle for the Devils was
Kelly Cornog (Newtown Square, PA) (1-1) and accounted for five strikeouts while facing 23 batters in five innings. Pitching for Maine-Presque Isle was Gracelyn Walsh as she was seen with two strikeouts on 34 batters.

Game 2:
FDU-Florham successfully completed the first inning on defense as Minnesota-Morris was unable to bring in any runs. The Devils got to work on offense as
Heather Priante (Howell, NJ) singled shortstop for the Devils' lone hit of the first inning but was not able to bring it home for the run.
Minnesota-Morris was able to find a gap in right field, which was able to cause a reaction for two runs to be scored in the third inning. FDU was able to record a second hit but was not able to score home.
In the top of the fourth inning, the Cougars were able to collect another run as well as converting for their final run in the fifth inning to up the score 4-0.
The Devils attempted to come back in the remaining innings as they were able to collect an additional two hits but fell short as Minnesota-Morris played the defensive side the rest of the game to secure the 4-0 victory over FDU-Florham.
Cornog (1-2) pitched again for the Devils in game two and recorded six strikeouts on 34 batters, over the entire game. Claiming the win for Minnesota-Morris was Skyla Bristol as she struck out nine batters over seven innings.
The Devils will return for day two on, Monday, March 11, and play Notre Dame Maryland at 3pm and Gwynedd Mercy directly after with a start time of 5pm.
