Myrtle Beach, SC (March 11) –A strong start for Lesley (4-1) that was predicated on a five-run opening inning proved to be the difference maker as it was able to push them past the FDU-Florham baseball team, 6-3 at the Ripken Experience in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina on Monday afternoon.

The Devils seven hits on the day all came from different players, including Tyrus Chippendale (Middlesex, N.J.), Zach Ganca (Merrick, N.J.) and Matt Aber (Basking Ridge, N.J.) who all recorded RBI. Aber also joined Jake Hendershot (Martinsville, N.J.) and Dylan Hode (Manalapan, N.J.) in crossing Homeplate today.
 
The Lynx caught fire right out of the gate with a five-run first inning on a single RBI to left field, a bases-loaded walk and hit by pitch, a fielder's choice RBI and an advance home on a caught stealing attempt to take a 5-0 lead.
 
It wasn't until the sixth inning where the Devils were able to produce some runs with a pair in the top of the sixth to cut the lead to 5-2. Hendershot led off with a single up the middle and stole second to put himself in position to score on an Aber RBI single up the middle. Brody Donovan (South Plainfield, N.J.) singled through the left side that moved Aber to third and put him in scoring position for Ganca to send him home on an RBI single through the right side.
 
FDU found their last run of the day in the top of the seventh. Hode got on base as the lead off man on a base-on-balls and advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by Mark Geist (Middlesex, N.J.). A wild pitch advanced Hode to third and he completed his trip around the bases on an RBI single to center field by Chippendale.
 
Lesley found one run late in the bottom of the seventh on an RBI single to right field and were able to hold off the Devils the rest of the way to secure the win.
 
Jonathan Rodenhaver (Port Republic, Md.) suffered his first loss of the season during his start, allowing five runs on two hits and struck out one batter. He was relieved by Andrew Piombino Jr. (Rockaway, N.J.) who pitched three innings and allowed only three hits while Ryan Krug (Long Hill, N.J.) pitched two innings and allowed one run and one hit and struck out two batters.
 
FDU-Florham wraps up their spring break schedule when they square off with Colby Swayer tomorrow, March 11 with the game scheduled for a 10:30am start.
