Annville, PA (February 7) – In a MAC Freedom trip to Lebanon Valley, the FDU-Florham Women's Basketball team slipped and suffered a 68-54 loss against the Dutchman on Wednesday evening.
FDU-Florham (10-11, 3-8 MAC Freedom) outscored the Dutchman in the fourth quarter, but it was not enough as they were handed their eighth MAC Freedom loss of the season.
Neysa Aguilar (Middlesex, NJ) was responsible for 18 of the Devils points while
Kolby Lynch (Morristown, NJ) added 10 points and 5 rebounds.
Lebanon Valley (13-9, 7-4 MAC Freedom) saw a performance of 19 points and 6 rebounds from Riley Hevelow to help secure the win over the Devils.
After Lebanon Valley claimied the opening basket and the next four points on the score board, FDU-Florham was able to put their first points of the game on the scoreboard after a jumper from
Shannon Tighe (Wayne, NJ), at the 7:36 timestamp, 2-6. Unfortunately, Lebanon Valley was able to find a scoring rhythm of a 13-4 run, to end claim the first quarter 19-6.
Lebanon Valley continued to score at their own pace, but the Devils were able to close the point differential to within 10, with 4:35 left in the half, 27-17. FDU-Florham was able to stick with the Dutchman to keep the margin at 10, with the help of a three-pointer from
Aguilar, to end the second quarter.
Despite being outscore 12-21 in the third quarter, the Devils started a new 10 minutes of play by remaining within 10 points, at the 6:03 minute mark, 45-32. Lebanon Valley was able to find another scoring spurt to push the score to read 57-38 at the end of 30-minutes of play.
FDU-Florham came back strong in the final 10 minutes of conference action and were able to outscore Lebanon Valley 16-11. The Devils kept chipping away at the score and were able to get it down to a 13-point difference, 66-53, after a three-pointer by
Christina Centeno (Bayonne, NJ) with 1:42 remaining. Unfortunately, a come back was too late as time expired and Lebanon Valley escaped with a 68-54 win.
FDU-Florham shot 26.5-percent (18-for-68) from the floor, 23.1-percent (3-for-13) from three-point range and 83.3-percent (15-for-18) from the free throw line, while Lebanon Valley shot 41.2-percent (28-for-68) from the floor, 15.4-percent (2-for-13) from three point range and 90.9-percent (10-for-11) from the free throw line.
Lebanon Valley was able to score 30 points in the paint, 10 points of the fast break, and 16 points contributed from the bench.
FDU-Florham's will remain on the road for their next MAC Freedom contest against Misericordia on Saturday, February 7 for a 1pm contest.
