Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Men’s Basketball Came Up Short Against Lebanon Valley, 73-59

Madison, NJ (February 7) – Despite a tough battle on Roger Kindel Court, a strong second half from Lebanon Valley (7-15, 5-6 MAC Freedom) saw the FDU-Florham (4-18, 1-10 MAC Freedom) men's basketball team coming up short on Wednesday night. The final score of the MAC Freedom matchup was 73-59.

FDU-Florham was once again led by Jaqwan Washington (Bryan, TX), who scored a team-high 15 points while Carson Woods (Phoenix, AZ) and Joseph Carney (Garwood, NJ) followed scoring nine each. Micah Moore (West Orange, NJ) and Woods both notched a team-high eight rebounds leading FDU defensively for the day. Lebanon Valley saw three players reach double-digit points but were paced by a game-high 22 points from Ryan Harder.

Lebanon Valley started off the game achieving a 6-0 run early in the game that ended at the 18:17 mark. Shortly after, Carney sank a three-pointer to cut the Dutchmen's lead in half. The Devils were able to spark a run at the 14:38 mark with points from Carney and Washington. The run allowed the Devils to take their first lead of the night with a score of 13-12. That run was ended after Lebanon Valley's Karson Pavlik shot a good three-pointer to take back the lead 15-13. An 8-3 run from the Devils at the 8:36 mark allowed them to take back the lead once again 23-21. This run included baskets from Brian Nichols (Roxbury, NJ), Woods, and Carney. The Dutchman quickly tied the game back up and went on a 13-5 run that saw the Devils going into halftime down 34-28.

The Dutchmen opened the second half on fire as they went on a 7-point run to extend their lead over the Devils, 41-28. This run was halted after back-to-back layups from Andrew Piombino Jr. (Rockaway, NJ) and Moore to make the score 41-32. At the 10:49 minute mark, the Devils started a 7-2 run that ended a minute later with the Devils still down 54-45. Washington score five of the seven points in that run. Shortly after, Lebanon Valley went on an 8-2 run that ended after Woods nailed two buckets to cut down the Dutchmen's lead to 62-51. For the remainder of the game, Lebanon Valley went on to outscore the Devils 11-8. Unfortunately, FDU could not get any closer than the nine-point deficit they had early in the second half as Lebanon Valley went on for the 73-59 MAC Freedom victory.
