Women’s Soccer ties with Lebanon Valley, 2-2

Madison, NJ. (October 19) - The FDU-Florham Women's Soccer Team tied with Lebanon Valley for their third MAC Freedom Conference match of the season.

The FDU Devils got on the board early in the first half when Mia Lopez (Rockaway, NJ) sent the ball towards the top of the box where it met Ashley Dietrich (Middletown, NJ) and she launched the ball right past Lebanon Valley goalie for the point at the 3:12 minute mark. The Devils maintained their one point lead until the 18:52 minute mark when the Flying Dutchman scored their first goal. The Devils and Dutchman continued to take shots on goal, FDU 4 and Lebanon Valley 2, but the score remained 1-1 until halftime.  

During the second half, Lebanon Valley was able to take the lead at the 76:10 minute mark, but the Devils did not let it last for long. FDU was able to even the score to 2-2 less than five minutes later at the 80:56 timestamp, with a goal from Emma Letizia (North Haledon, NJ) as ran the ball past Lebanon Valley defense, crossing it into the net for the point. The Devils and the Flying Dutchman continued to fight for the point that would win them the game, but it ultimately ended in a 2-2 tie.  

FDU led in penalty corners, collecting 11, and in shots as they had 7 of their 21 shots on goal.  

In goal for full duration of the match was Ava Gianni (North Brunswick Township, NJ), as she saved 4 of the 6 shots taken on goal by the Dutchman. 

The FDU-Florham Devils will continue home as they go against DeSales on Tuesday, October 22nd for a 7:00pm match up.
