Women's Basketball Tripped Up by Delaware Valley, 66-52

Madison, NJ (January 31) – The FDU-Florham Women's Basketball team closed the month of January with a MAC Freedom contest against Delaware Valley, who defeated the Devils by a score of 66-52.

FDU-Florham (10-9, 3-6 MAC Freedom) once again had current MAC Freedom leading scorer, Neysa Aguilar (Middlesex, NJ), as the team leading scorer with 21 points and 8 rebounds. Current MAC Freedom leading rebounder, Shannon Tighe (Wayne, NJ) also added 8 rebounds and 16 points.
 
Delaware Valley (14-6, 5-4 MAC Freedom) saw a performance of 22 points and 14 rebounds from Maisie Neuber to help secure their fifth conference win of the season.

FDU-Florham was able to open the conference match-up with a 9-0 run, a little over seven minutes into the game. Delaware Valley was able to find their rhythm on Roger Kindel Court to give the game its first tie, with 33 seconds to play and end the first 10 minutes of regulation with a score of 14-14.

The Aggies were able take their first lead, 18-16, within the first minute of the second quarter. FDU-Florham was able to stay close as the score began to fluctuate many times, all coming with a point differential until there was 1:39 left in the firts half, 28-27. Delaware Valley closed the half with a seven-point spurt and a score of 34-27.

FDU-Florham opened the first two minutes of the third quarter with a 10-point deficit. A free throw by Aguilar and a layup by Kolby Lynch (Morristown, NJ) gave the Devils momentum to come with a point, with 5:47 remaining.

The Devils continued to keep the score close as three-pointers from Gabrielle Walker (Old Bridge, NJ) and Tighe, helped close the third quarter by only a four-point differential, 50-46.

With 2 minutes and 17 run off in the fourth quarter, FDU-Florham captured its first tie since the second quarter, 50-50. Unfortunately, a 14-2 scoring run from Delaware Valley propelled them ahead of the Devils and handed them a 66-52 loss.
 
FDU-Florham shot 26.9-percent (18-for-67) from the floor, 21.1-percent (4-for-19) from three-point range and 66.7-percent (12-for-18) from the free throw line, while Delaware Valley shot 39.4-percent (26-for-66) from the floor, 28.6-percent (4-for-14) from three point range and 71.4-percent (10-for-14) from the free throw line.

Delaware Valley was able to score 40 points in the paint, 12 points of the fast break, and 18 points off the Devils turnovers.    
 
FDU-Florham's next contest will be in Center Valley, PA, as the DeSales Bulldogs will host the Devils for a 1pm MAC Freedom contest on Saturday, February 3.
