Madison, NJ (September 27) – The FDU-Florham women's soccer hosted Madison Ave. rival, Drew University, for non-conference action and was upheld by a score of 2-1, in the final nine minutes of the game.

The FDU-Florham Devils and the Drew Rangers faced off in the battle of Madison Ave, and it was a battle to start with. Both teams showed their strength as shots were being taken left and right at the goalkeepers.
In the first half alone, FDU-Florham held the slight advantage in shots with 12, compared to Drew's 10. However, the difference in the first half was one of the Devils' shots was converted into a goal.
Junior
Mia Lopez (Rockaway, NJ) received the throw-in on the side and was able to weave in and out of her defenders until she found a clearing to strike.
Lopez's fifth goal of the season came within the 28th minute of the match.
Both teams were eager to get back out on the pitch in the second half. Especially for Drew's defense, as they only let FDU-Florham strike a total of five times. The Rangers collected 10 shots.
The game came alive when Ranger, Rebecca Racine, tied the game at 1-1 with nine minutes left to play. It was a then a battle of who will score the next goal.
Unfortunately, it was Drew who won this year's Battle of Madison Ave., when Isabella Grof-Tisza scored the game winning goal in the 87th minute of the match, 1-2.
Graduate student goalkeeper,
Erica Blackburn (Marlboro, NJ) collected nine saves on 17 shots while in for 79 minutes of the match.
Ava Gianni (North Brunswick, NJ) protected the net for the other 11 minutes but was not forced to make a save.
FDU-Florham's next game will be the opening of MAC Freedom play on Saturday, September 30th as they will host Stevens for a 3pm match.
