Men’s Tennis Falls Against Farmingdale State, 6-3

Madison, NJ (September 20)- The FDU-Florham men's tennis team (0-3) fell during their fall home-opener against Farmingdale State, 6-3 on Wednesday evening.

FDU had a 2-1 advantage after doubles play. The duo of Quinn Carmody (Hingham, Mass.) and Jaden Andresen (Branford, Conn.) got things going for the Devils at the No. 3 with an 8-3 win against the pair of Emil Sabovic and Ethan Cintron. The tag team of Brandon Schwartz (Gladwyne, NJ) and Kelvin Liwag (Marlboro, NJ) fell in their matchup against Ty Williams and Muhammed Sawar, 8-3 but the team of Matthew Emery (Howell, NJ) and Ronald Duval (Old Bridge, NJ) closed out the doubles flight with an 8-4 win against Alan Sabovic and Ryan Hendel.

In singles play, the Rams outmatched the Devils 5-1 to secure the win for the team. The lone win of the singles portion for Fairleigh Dickinson was Duval from the No. 2 position, who defeated Sawar, 6-3, 6-3. Emery was defeated at the No.1 position by A. Sabovic, 6-3, 6-3. Liwag was bested at the #3 singles by Hendel, 6-2, 6-2. At the #4 position, Schwartz and Williams went into a third set with Schwartz taking the first set, 6-4 and Williams winning the second set, 7-5. Williams secured the match win with a 10-3 set three victory. Matthew Olkhovetsky won from the #5 position against Andresen, 6-1, 6-1 and Vincent Manzi closed out the day for Farmingdale with a win at the No. 6 position over Carmody, 6-0, 6-1.

FDU-Florham has a bounce back opportunity this weekend as they host Brooklyn College on Saturday, September 23 with first serve scheduled for 1:00pm
