Madison, NJ (September 20) – The FDU-Florham women's soccer proved their determination as they hosted Rutger-Newark for non-conference action on Wednesday evening, and won 1-0, within the final minutes of the match.

The non-conference match up between the FDU-Florham Devils and the Rutgers-Newark Scarlet Raiders saw a defensive first half as both teams were able to produce a limited amount of shots. The Devils were able to take aim five times, compared to the Scarlet Raiders who produced two shots. Neither team was awarded a corner kick in the first half as well.
Late into the second half, when all hope was thought to be lost, the Devils were able to find an opening. Junior
Madison Kleinwaks (Boonton, NJ) found the perfect spot to drive the ball to the back of the net in the 86th minute of the match.
Kleinwaks wouldn't have been able to score her second career game-winner without the cross field assist from
Mia Lopez (Rockaway, NJ).
Rutgers Newark was not able to convert a quick goal to tie the match. However, their best effort resulted In five shots in the second half and the 1-0 loss to the Devils.
Erica Blackburn (Marlboro, NJ) stood ready in goal for when the Raiders would strike, but only found herself with two saves in today's match.
FDU-Florham will take a road trip to Stevenson University in Owing Mills, MD for a opposing Middle Atlantic Conference match-up. Kick off is set for 1pm on Saturday, September 23.
