Madison, NJ (April 8) – Chippandale collected his 100th career hit, however it was not enough as the FDU-Florham Devils Baseball team (7-19, 4-10) were defeated by the Arcadia Knights (20-7, 15-2) in MAC Freedom doubleheader action, on Saturday afternoon.
Game 1:
FDU-Florham combined for three hits in game one vs Arcadia, but ultimately fell 3-0. Tyrus Chippendale (Middlesex, NJ) accounted for one of those hits as he also recorded his 100th career hit.
Arcadia was able to bring in a run early as the ball was singled down the right field line for an RBI. Into the fifth inning, Arcadia was able stretch the score 3-0 by adding two more RBI's of a single and sacriffic fly.
On the mound for the Devils was
Nick Rizos (Wood Ridge, NJ) (1-3) who struck out three batters in six innings. Arcadia's Hunter Curly (2-0)
was awarded the win with six strikeouts throughout the duration of the game.
Game 2:
FDU-Florham was able to get a hit from
Jack Giovenco (Allentown, PA) in the bottom of the fifth, before falling to Arcadia, 7-0.
Arcadia put its first runs on board with a single through the left side for two RBI's, off fielding errors by the Devils. Arcadia proceeded to bat in five more RBI's to complete the sweep on Saturday afternoon.
Arcadia's Zach Steiger (3-1) threw for the win as he pitched a no-hitter through four innings, with eight strike outs.
Anthony Molina (Bound Brook, NJ) (0-3) was on the mound to start for the Devils and was seen through four innings.
For their next game, the Devils will host Old Westbury for a non-conference game on Tuesday, April 11th. The 3:30PM game will be played in awareness of the Hidden Opponent Mental Health.
