Madison, N.J. & Dallas, Pa. (April 15 & 16) – After weather and travel complications pushed the matchup to two different locations for two different halves, FDU-Florham women's lacrosse team (6-7, 4-1 MAC FREE) found a way to survive the storm and hold off MAC Freedom rival Misericordia (6-7,2-2 MAC FREE) ,15-14 this weekend.
Lizzy Esudero (Bridgewater, NJ ) once again led the Devils in points, notching four goals and dishing four assists for a total of eight points.
Alexis Ashton (Blairstown, NJ) continues to be a scoring machine for FDU as she notched her fourth straight game of five goals or more with five goals to go along with an assist.
Jenna Ranney (Forest Hill, Md.) also contributed greatly on the offensive end, tying a season-high four goals to go along with an assist for five points.
Maddy Apap (Montgomery, NY) started the game in goal, posting seven saves.
Alison Kozik (Ellington, Conn.) came in to play for the second half, save three shots and earning the win in net
For Misericordia, Michelle Torzilli led the way with four goals and two assists for six points followed by Skylar Dowling who created five points on four goals and an assist. Lena Conway went the distance in goal for the Cougars but suffered the defeat while making eleven saves.
The two teams exchanged goals of the first draw before the Devils scored four straight goals, two from Escudero to take a 5-1 lead and eventually a 6-3 lead heading into the second quarter. The Cougars flipped the script and outscored the Devils 6-3 in the second quarter to tie the contest heading into the second half, 9-9.
With inclement weather in Madison, NJ that halted the game at half and travel concerns, the game was to Sunday at Misericordia where play was resumed where the game left.
The second half was as tight as the first. Dowling scored first to five Misericordia its first lead of the day but was quickly answered with two goals from FDU with
Marissa Ross (Owings Mills, Md.) and
Claudia Zappia (South Brunswick, NJ) helping the team retake the lead. The Cougars scored again with 33 seconds left to go in the third quarter to send the game back to a standstill, 12-12 going into the final quarter of action.
The Cougars scored two straight goals to take a 14-12 lead but the Devils rallied back and scored three to take a 15-14 lead with 7:44 left to go in the fourth quarter. Misericordia had opportunities but some key defensive stops by FDU held them off and they were able to walk away with a key MAC Freedom win.
As a team, The Devils took 26 shots including 25 on goal, 17 ground balls and 16 draw controls. FDU also converted 10-of-13 clear attempts.
The Cougars as a team outshot the Devils with 31 shots on the day including 23 on goal to go along with 15 ground balls and 15 draw controls. They also 14 of their 17 clear attempts.
Before the beginning of the first half, The Devils honored its seven seniors for their contributions to the FDU Devils Women's Lacrosse program. Those seniors were

Dana Tufaro (Staten Island, NY).
FDU-Florham plays its final regular-season home contest on Wednesday, April 19 as they host MAC Freedom opponent DeSales for a 5:00 pm start.
