Women’s Lacrosse Scores 17 Straight to Secure the Win Over Arcadia, 23-6.

Madison, NJ (April 1) – Tied at 6-6 with nine minutes to go in the first half, FDU-Florham (3-7, 2-1) scored 17 straight goals to defeat Arcadia (5-7, 1-1) in a MAC Freedom match up. Six different Devils scored two or more goals to secure the win on Saturday Afternoon.
 
FDU- Florham was lead by Alexis Ashton (Blairstown, NJ) and Claudia Zappia (South Brunswick, NJ) who both added six goals in today's win. Zappia added one assist for seven points, while Ashton added four assists for ten points.
 
In the first quarter, Arcadia was able to put up two goals within the first four minutes of the game. Zappia was able to make her way to the net, to put FDU-Florham's first goal on the board at the eleven-minute mark. Before the first ended, Arcadia was able to add a pair of goals to up the score, but Ashton answered with two goals just 20 seconds apart, 4-3.
 
The heat was rising in the second quarter as the Devils regained the lead with another pair of goals within the opening two minutes. Arcadia then tacked on another two to regain the lead, until Zappia scored the tying goal with nine minutes left in the half. The game winning goal came from Senior Lizzy Escudero (Bridgewater, NJ) as she ripped the ball in the back of the net for a 7-6 advantage. The Devils added another two goals before the half expired.
 
FDU-Florham took control of the game in the second half and were able to put up 14 goals up on the Arcadia defense to check the game off in the win column.

The Devils held a 39-13 advantage in shots, was 16-12 in ground balls and went 11-for-12 on the clear. FDU-Florham was also successful on 27 draw control attempts including Marissa Ross (Ownings Mills, MD) who played for a season high of 18 draw controls.
 
In the net, Alison Kozik (Ellington, Conn.) was awarded the win as she recorded four saves. Emily Griffith was in the net for Arcadia and totaled seven saves.

FDU-Florham will host King's for MAC Freedom play on Wednesday, April 5 at 4PM for their next matchup.
