Escudero Notches 100th Career Assist in 18-5 Win Against King’s

Hoboken, N.J. (March 29) – Senior Lizzy Escudero (Bridgewater, NJ) notched her 100th career assist during a 19-5 triumph for the FDU-Florham women's lacrosse team (4-7, 2-1 MAC FREE) against King's College (2-9, 1-2 MAC FREE) on Wednesday afternoon.

Escudero notched her second straight eleven-point performance as she finished with five goals and six assists. The Devils also saw strong scoring performances from Alexis Ashton (Blairstown, NJ) he scored five goals and two assists for a seven-point day and Jenna Ranney (Forest Hill, Md.) who recorded four goals and an assist.

Marissa Ross (Owings Mills, Md.) was once again dominant on the draw control, adding 13 to her total as well as tallying a goal and three assists. Alison Kozik (Ellington, Conn.) notched another win in net for the Devils while making three saves.

Ali Lindsay led the day in points for the Monarchs with three total on one goal and two assists. Sidney Bush suffered the defeat in goal while making nine saves.

King's put the first goal on the board just over four minutes into the competition to take the early lead, but it would not last long as Ranney scored just 11 seconds later and then again at the 7:45 mark to take a 2-1 lead. The Monarchs tied the contest a few minutes later before the Devils scored three unanswered goals and outscored King's, 4-1 down that stretch to take a 6-3 lead into the second frame.

Escudero's 100th assist came on the first score of the second quarter as she dished the ball to Ashton for the first of her five goals at the 14:34 timestamp. The two teams exchanged a few goals until Ross' goal with 8:13 left to go in the second quarter sparked three more unanswered goals in the second to take a 12-5 lead into the half.

The run would continue into the second half as the Devils for the second game in a row held their opponent to zero second half goals while they poured on seven more to take the 19-5 win.

As a team, The Devils took 36 shots including 28 on goal, 16 ground balls and 17 draw controls. FDU was near perfect on its clears, converting 10-of-11 attempts.
