Baseball Falls to King's, 10-7, in 11 Innings

Madison, NJ (March 31) – FDU-Florham baseball rallied to force extra innings but visiting King's College scored three times in the top of the 11th inning to defeat the Devils, 10-7, in game one of a MAC Freedom series at Vincent J. and Lenda F. Naimoli Ballpark this afternoon.

FDU-Florham now sits at 5-14 overall and 2-5 in MAC Freedom play, while King's improved to 9-12 overall and to 2-8 in the league.

FDU-Florham's offense today ran through Zach Ganca (Merrick, NY), who posted two hits and drove in a pair of runs. Gabe Francisco (Rutherford, NJ) chipped in with two hits and two RBI as well for the Devils this afternoon.

King's held a 5-1 lead through six and a half innings thanks to a pair of home runs from Chase Yochem. The Devils got their lone run on a sacrifice fly by Dylan Hode (Manalapan, NJ) in the bottom of the second.

In the bottom of the eighth, the Devils put runners on second and third before Francisco made it a one run game with a two run double to center. Despite the visitors answering with two runs of their own in the top of the ninth, FDU-Florham plated three in the bottom half of the frame thanks to a wild pitch and a two run single from Ganca sending the game to extras.

After a scoreless tenth, King's plated three in the 11th and shut FDU-Florham down in the bottom half to come away with the road win.

Hronich earned the win out of the pen for King's on three innings, three hits, one earned run, while Jake Rivera (West Islip, NY) shouldered the loss on 3.1 innings, five hits and three runs in relief for the Devils.

FDU-Florham and King's will head to Wilkes-Barre, Pa. for games two and three of the series on Sunday, April 2 with the doubleheader starting at 12pm.
