Madison, NJ (March 28) – The FDU-Florham baseball team dropped an 8-6 Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) decision to Stevens Institute of Technology on Tuesday afternoon at Vincent J. and Lenda F. Naimoli Ballpark.

Stevens (16-6, 7-3 MAC Freedom) took an early lead as Michael Reyes lined a three run homer over the right field fence in the top of the first inning. FDU-Florham (5-13, 2-4 MAC Freedom) tied the game up at 3-3 in the bottom of the second as the Devils took advantage of a pair of errors and a two run single by
Tyrus Chippendale (Middlesex, NJ).

The Ducks answered with one in the third and one in the fifth for a 5-3 edge on a pair of RBI singles. FDU-Florham got within one run following an RBI single in the seventh by
Aaron Santos (Bridgewater, NJ) in the seventh, but once again the Ducks answered with a pair of runs in the eighth.

FDU-Florham had the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth with the winning run on first base, but Stevens closer Anthony Pron got out of the jam with a strikeout to escape with the 8-6 win.

Chippendale sparked the FDU-Florham offense with a 3-for-5 effort from the top spot in the lineup to go along with a pair of RBI.
Stevens relief pitcher Matt Villapiano (1-0) earned the win out of the pen, while
Anthony Molina (Bound Brook, NJ) was handed the loss (0-2) after throwing 3.2 innings in relief of starter
Jonathan Rodenhaver (Port Republic, Md.).
