Softball Falls Twice to Stevens in MAC Freedom Opener

Madison, NJ (March 26) – The FDU-Florham softball team fell twice to Stevens in a MAC Freedom doubleheader on Sunday afternoon at McManus Field. The Ducks grabbed game one, 7-1, and the nightcap, 9-2. FDU-Florham sits at 7-4 overall on the year and opened MAC Freedom play at 0-2.
 
Game 1:
 
Stevens took advantage of a pair of errors in the top of the third and put together a six spot, which ended up being enough for the win. The Devils unfortunately had back-to-back errors to open the frame before the Ducks used four hits to account for the six run inning.
 
An RBI double by Jada Lambright (Clifton Park, NY) that plated Kristina Pelano (Howell, NJ) in the bottom of the fourth came as FDU-Florham's lone run in the opener.
 
Ella Tozduman earned the win for Stevens with a complete game effort as she allowed three hits, one run and struck out seven. Ciara Hoffman (Freehold, NJ) took the loss for the Devils on seven innings, ten hits, seven runs (zero earned) and three strikeouts.

Game 2:
 
The nightcap was scoreless until the fifth inning when Stevens rallied for four runs in the fifth and five more in the sixth. In the fifth, the Ducks used three RBI singles and an RBI double for a 4-0 lead and in the sixth Stevens added five on four RBI singles.

FDU-Florham's lone runs in the game came on a two run single to right by Jamie Cardello (Cortlandt Manor, NY), that plated both Pelano and Kacie Centineo (Waldwick NJ).

Erin Kreis took the win for Stevens on 5.1 innings, seven hits, two runs (one earned) and four strikeouts. Bianca DiSanto (Colonia, NJ) shouldered the loss on 4.2 innings, nine hits, four runs and a strikeout.

B6 | Jamie Cardello plated two on a double to right center (9-2, SIT)

FDU-Florham will travel to Lycoming College for another MAC Freedom doubleheader on Tuesday, March 28 at 3:00 pm.
