Center Valley, Pa. (March 7) – After defeating the FDU-Florham baseball team (5-12, 2-3 MAC Freedom), 4-2 on Friday, DeSales (10-8, 8-2 MAC Freedom) completed the three-game MAC Freedom series with 13-6 and 15-6 wins during the team's doubleheader matchup with the Devils on Sunday.
 
Game One
 
FDU put the first run on the board early on a sacrifice fly by Jimmy Finnerty (Augusta, NJ) that brought home Tyrus Chippendale (Middlesex, NJ) for a 1-0 advantage in the top of the first inning. The lead did not last long however as DeSales answered with a run in the bottom of the first and four runs in the bottom of the second inning to take a 5-1 edge.
 
Gabe Francisco (Rutherford, NJ) cut into the lead with an RBI double in the top of the third inning but once again, the Bulldogs responded with a big run, scoring six unanswered runs In the bottom of the third frame to hold an 11-2 edge. FDU tried to climb back with four runs scored over the next four innings but DeSales held them off with two more runs of their own for the 13-6 win in the early slate.
 
Nick Rizos (Wood Ridge, NJ) was credited with the loss for the Devils, pitching 1.1 innings as they starter while allowing four runs on two hits during his performance. Andrew McGowan got the win on the mound for the Bulldogs while pitching 1.2 innings of relief allowing one run on two hits and striking out two batters.

Game two

FDU-Florham came away with four runs in the top of the first inning to start game two but a solo shot over the right field fence by Carson Allison sparked eight unanswered runs for DeSales in the first two innings of play to take an 8-4 lead through two. Chippendale singled through the right side that plated Brody Donovan (South Plainfield) to make the score 8-5 in the fourth inning.  DeSales created a big lead in the bottom of the frame on a wild pitch, a three-run homer by Joe Grigas and a RBI-double by Gavin Zavorski to hold a 12-5 advantage through four.

Jack Giovenco (Allentown, Pa) scored the last run of the day for the Devils in the top of the fifth inning on a RBI-single to center field. The Bulldogs closed out the game with two insurance runs in the bottom of the fifth to complete the full series sweep.

Colby Craig (Chester, NJ) suffered the loss for the Devils, pitching 1.2 innings and allowing seven earned runs. Will Manely was credited with the win for the Bulldogs in relief, pitching 2.2 innings while allowing only one run on four hits and striking out five batters.
