Madison, NJ (March 24) – The FDU-Florham baseball team (5-9) had the opportunity In the ninth inning for the walk-off win, But DeSales was able to hold on for the 4-2 win.
Dylan Hode (Manalapan, NJ) led the way for the Devils as he had two hits and one run.
Aaron Santos (Bridgewater, NJ) and
Sean Wodell (Freehold, NJ) each contributed three hits.
The Bulldogs bit first as Patrick Kusters tripled to center field for an RBI and scored off the throw to second base, 2-0.
The Devils kept quiet until the sixth inning, when
Tyler McCulloch (Berkeley Heights, NJ) singled to the left center for the Devils first run.
Jimmy Finnerty (Augusta, NJ) was then able to cross home plate on a fielder's choice, for the tying run.
Come the eighth inning, DeSales made the game interesting by sacrificing a bunt to get their runner home. The Bulldogs were then able to single through the left side for an RBI, 4-2. In the bottom of the ninth inning, the Devils had the chance to win the game with bases loaded and two outs. However, the DeSales was able to make the final out and hand the Devils the 4-2 loss.
Jonathan Rodenhaver (Port Republic, MD) started through four innings and recorded four strike outs.
Anthony Molina (Bound Brook, NJ) (0-1) was seen on the mound for three innings and was given today's loss. Mike Romano (1-0) pitched four innings with two strikeouts and was awarded the win.
