Williamstown, Mass. (March 22) – The FDU-Florham women's lacrosse team (1-6) dropped its non-conference matchup at #20 Williams (5-1), 20-7 during on Wednesday afternoon.
Marissa Ross (Owings Mills, Md.) led the way for the Devils, posting a season-high 11 draw controls to go along with two goals and an assist.
Emma Ciquera (Putnam County, Conn) also added a couple of goals of her own while
Jenna Ranney (Forest Hill, Md.) and
Claudia Zappia (South Brunswick, NJ) each notched a pair of assists.
Alison Kozik (Ellington, Conn) made nine saves in net during the loss.
Williams was led by Franny Donahue who posted a seven-point effort with four goals and three assists while Claudia Russell and Katy McCollugh each earned hat tricks. Three goalies saw action for the Ephs with starter Caroline Pratt getting the win while making four saves.
The Devils fell behind 8-0 before a goal by Ciquera and two goals by Ross cut the lead to 8-3 halfway through the second quarter. Williams found two straight goals near the end of the quarter and with just four seconds before the half was up, Ranney put in her lone goal of the contest to make the score 10-4 Ephs heading into halftime.
Williams continued its attack in the second half, outscoring FDU-Florham 6-2 in the third quarter and 4-1 in the fourth quarter to take the resounding 20-7 victory.
The Devils were outshot by the Ephs, 37-13 but took the advantage in draw controls, recording 19 to Williams' 13. FDU-Florham also went 13-19 in clear attempts while Williams succeeded on 21 of its 22 clears in the matchup.
The Devils will continue on the road as they travel to Union, NJ for a non-conference matchup with Kean on Saturday, March 25 at 1:00 pm.
