Myrtle Beach, SC (March 16) – The FDU-Florham softball team experienced setbacks on day four of the Fastpitch Dreams Classic in Myrtle Beach. The Devils were defeated by Utica, 5-1, as well as Plattsburgh State, 10-2.
Game 1:
FDU-Florham softball started their two-game day against Utica (6-0). Utica got right to work as it lifted the score to 2-0 in the first inning and tacked on another run in the fourth inning.
FDU-Florham saw an opportunity in the fifth inning from graduate student
Collen Conway (Amityville, NY), as she singled up the middle allowing
Jada Lambright (Clifton, NJ) to step on home for the lone run of the game.
Utica added two more runs in the bottom of the fifth and sixth innings to ensure a comfortable lead going into the seventh inning. FDU-Florham fell short in game one (5-1), as they saw its first loss of the season.
Ciara Hoffman (Freehold, NJ) (4-1) pitched through five innings with five strike outs, before
Bianca DiSanto (Colonia, NJ) (1-0) pitched the final inning and allowed one hit. Hoffman was assigned the loss and Utica's Jordyn Conte (2-0) earned the win with three strikeouts.

Game 2:
The Devils faced Plattsburgh State in their second game of Thursday afternoon. The scoreboard was in favor of Plattsburgh as it defeated FDU-Florham in six innings, 10-2.
Plattsburgh wasted no time in securing the lead at 2-0 from a RBI double to center and a RBI triple to right field. To keep up with the increasing score, FDU-Florham's
Kacie Centineo (Waldwick, NJ) singled up the middle for an RBI, and swung the Devils right back into the game (2-1).
With the Devils on the tail of Plattsburgh, Kristen Langdon walked up to the plate and tripled to center field for a three-run RBI. Plattsburgh proceeded to bring in an additional five runs to set the score at 10-1 going into the sixth inning.
FDU gave it their all, in bottom of the sixth inning as they added a run from sophomore
Rachel Reiter (Riverside, Calif.). Reiter introduced the ball to the bat and launched it slightly left of center field over the fence. However, the Devils were still not able to come back from the deficit, as they lost 10-2.
K. Maggiacom pitched for Plattsburgh state and earned the win by pitching all six innings and striking out the Devils three times.
Bianca DiSanto (Colonial, NJ) threw from the circle for the Devils, and is now 1-1 on the year.
