Sparks, Md. (March 10) – The FDU-Florham women's lacrosse team dropped a 20-5 final to Roanoke College in non-conference action at the United States Lacrosse Headquarters tonight.
FDU-Florham (1-3) was led by
Lizzy Escudero (Bridgewater, NJ), who registered her second hat trick of the season.
Jenna Ranney (Forest Hill, Md.) registered the other two goals for the Devils tonight.
Roanoke (5-0) received six goals from Libby Bowman as well as four goals and two helpers from Lilly Blair.
The Maroons scored the first eight goals of the game before Escudero potted FDU-Florham's first goal late in the second quarter. Prior to the break. Ranney tallied her first goal of the game and Escudero finished a pass from
Emma Ciquera (Putnam County, Conn.) as the score stood at 9-3 at halftime.
Roanoke outscore FDU-Florham by a 9-2 margin in the second half en route to the 20-5 win. Ranney finished a pass from Ciquera in the third, while Escudero finished the hat trick early in the fourth to account for the Devils five goals.
As a team, Roanoke led statistically in shots (33-13) and draw controls (18-9), while FDU-Florham held a 16-14 edge in ground balls and went 11-for-12 in clearing attempts.
In net,
Alison Kozik (Ellington, Conn.) made six saves for the Devils in a complete game effort.
FDU-Florham will travel to Arizona for a pair of non-conference games next week during spring break beginning with a matchup Stevenson University on Tuesday, March 14 at 10:00 am MST.
