Geneva, NY (February 22) – The FDU-Florham field hockey has received the National Field Hockey Coaches Association's (NFHCA) Team Academic Award for their hard work in the classroom this fall.
 
The NFHCA honored 59 Division III programs this year which earned a team grade point average of 3.5 or higher during the fall semester. Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) posted the highest team GPA with a mark of 3.86. Swarthmore College came in second with a team-average 3.83. NCAA runners-up Johns Hopkins University came in third with a 3.81 team average.
 
FDU-Florham was one of four teams in the Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) to earn the award this year and was joined by Arcadia University, Stevens Institute of Technology and Misericordia University on the list. The Devils posted a team GPA of 3.60.
 
Earlier this month, the NFHCA announced that five FDU-Florham student-athletes were named to the 2022 National Academic Squad and that Julianna Medina (Linwood, NJ) was named NFHCA Scholar of Distinction.
 
This fall, the FDU-Florham field hockey program posted an overall record of 9-10 and made an appearance in the MAC Freedom Play-In game.
 
The NFHCA is a nonprofit organization serving field hockey coaches and supporters of the game from across the United States. The mission of the organization is to stimulate the professional development of coaching leadership within the sport of field hockey. The NFHCA strives to cultivate and recognize the professional contributions of its membership and to foster and promote the growth of the sport.
 
The NFHCA is responsible for providing a recognizable presence and voice in regard to legislation affecting the sport as well as interscholastic and intercollegiate programs.
