Madison, NJ (January 26) – Three student-athletes from the FDU-Florham women's lacrosse team have been named as Division III Preseason All-Americans by USA Lacrosse Magazine as selections were released earlier this week.
Senior
Kylee Garcia (Branchburg, NJ) earned a spot on the Division III Women's Lacrosse Preseason All-America First Team, while classmate
Lizzy Escudero (Bridgewater, NJ) and sophomore
Marissa Ross (Owings Mills, Md.) earned Honorable Mention accolades.
Garcia was the only MAC Freedom honoree on the Preseason All-America First Team, while the trio from FDU-Florham accounted for three of five total selections this year from the conference.
Garcia, a two-time All-Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) First Team selection and 2022 USA Lacrosse Magazine Honorable Mention All-American, posted 85 goals and 22 assists for 107 points in 2022. The senior ranked ninth in Division III in goals and 21st in the country in points a season ago. In three seasons with the Devils, Garcia has totaled 174 goals, 42 assists and 216 points to go along with 66 ground balls and 61 caused turnovers.
In her first season with the Devils, Escudero registered 63 goals and 81 assists for 144 points. The now senior ranked first on the team in assists and points as well as third in goals. Nationally, her 144 points and 81 helpers ranked fourth in Division III women's lacrosse. A season ago, Escudero was named as the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Offensive Player of the Year and as the MAC Freedom Attacker of the Year. Additionally, she earned spots on the All-MAC Freedom First Team and the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) All-Region First Team.
Ross was one of the best draw control specialists in the nation a season ago as she ranked only behind Caroline Wise of Ithaca College with 173 draw controls on the year. Her 173 draw controls broke the single season record, while her 19 draw controls against Wilkes broke the single game record. Ross, an All-MAC Freedom Honorable Mention honoree and IWLCA All-Region Second Team award winner, added five goals and two assists to her stat line a year ago.
Garcia, Escudero and Ross led FDU-Florham to a 16-3 overall record in 2022, to an undefeated 8-0 mark in MAC Freedom play and to the program's second straight MAC Freedom title game. The Devils will open their 2023 campaign on February 22 at home against Washington College (Md.) at 5:00 pm on Robert T. Shields Field.
