Santucci Lifts Women's Soccer to 1-0 Win at Drew

Madison, NJ (September 27) – FDU-Florham women's soccer, which received votes in the D3Soccer.com National Poll for the second straight week, picked up its 11th consecutive victory tonight, 1-0, at Drew University in non-conference action.

Drew nearly tallied the first goal of the game late in the first half and had a look at an empty net, but Sofia Carozza (Pawling, NY) cleared the ball off the goal line as the match went into the break scoreless. FDU keeper Erica Blackburn (Marlboro, NJ) made a pair of saves in the first half, while Drew keeper Anthi Panayides made four stosp over the first 45 minutes of action.
 
The Devils were awarded a corner kick in the 57th minute and Carly Santucci (Middlesex, NJ) headed the ball into the left side of the net off the kick by Francesca Escudero (Bridgewater, NJ). Blackburn (11-0-0) made two more saves over the final 34 minutes of play for her seventh complete game shutout of the season.
 
FDU-Florham has now won five of its last six matchups against crosstown rival Drew and has shutout an opponent for the ninth time this year, now the third most in a single season in program history.
 
FDU-Florham will play its final non-conference regular season game of the year on Saturday, October 1 as the Devils will host Cabrini University on Robert T. Shields Field at 4:00 pm.
