FDU enters the MAC Freedom Women's Lacrosse Tournament as the top seed for the second consecutive season following a 24-3 win over King's College (Pa.) on Saturday afternoon.  This season, the Devils put together an overall record of 15-2 and an 8-0 mark in conference games for the second consecutive season. FDU currently sits sixth in the NCAA Division III Region IV Week Two rankings and is receiving votes in the IWLCA Division III National Poll.

The Devils are making their 14th appearance in the MAC Freedom Tournament and second under head coach Evan Mager. Last season, FDU defeated Delaware Valley, King's College and Stevens Institute of Technology to claim the MAC Freedom trophy and a bid to the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament. FDU is 24-6 all-time in the MAC Freedom Tournament and have only faced Lycoming once in the conference bracket. That came in 2008 in the semifinal round as FDU defeated Lycoming by a 15-13 final.

FDU is led offensively by Katie Walsh (Marlton, NJ), Kylee Garcia (Branchburg, NJ) and Lizzy Escudero (Bridgewater, NJ), who have combined for 213 goals and 107 assists for 320 points. Escudero ranks fourth in Division III with 127 points and sixth in Division III with 69 assists, while Walsh and Garcia rank sixth and seventh, respectively, in Division III with 78 and 77 goals apiece. First-year Marissa Ross (Owings Mills, Md.) has been dominant on draw controls as she ranks second in the country with a single season program record 152 draws on the year.

Earlier this season, the Devils broke the single game individual records for points (Escudero – 16), assists (11 – Escudero) and draw controls (19- Ross) as well as the single game team records for points (39), goals (25), assists (14) and shots on goal (38).

The Warriors are led by Katie Maguire, who has scored 58 goals and has tallied three assists for 6 1points on the year. She also has scooped up 38 ground balls and caused 19 turnovers. Lycoming has three student-athletes with 30 or more goals on the season.

FDU and Lycoming matched up earlier this season on Robert T. Shields Field on April 9 as the Devils came away with a 22-5 victory. In that game, Walsh and Escudero both tallied five goals apiece, while Alexis Ashton (Blairstown, NJ) notched four goals of her own and Ross won 17 draw controls. Since the 2008 season, the Devils are undefeated against Lycoming in nine matchups.

The winner of today's MAC Freedom semifinal game will move on to face the winner of the Stevens/Misericordia game on Saturday, May 7 in the MAC Freedom Championship game. Stevens will host Misericordia this afternoon in Hoboken, NJ in the other semifinal game.
