Madison, NJ (April 29) – The FDU-Florham men's tennis team closed its regular season with a 9-0 non-conference victory over Brooklyn College this afternoon. FDU will enter the postseason with an overall record of 8-3.
The Devils won all three doubles matches to start the match.
Sergio De La Garza (Tijuana, Calif.) and
Zach Puccia (Middletown, NJ) were victorious by an 8-1 score at No. 1, while
Brandon Schwartz (Gladwyne, Pa.) and
Matthew Emery (Howell, NJ) won by a duplicate 8-1 score at No. 2.
Karanveer Saini (Punjab, India) and
Jaden Andresen (Branford, Conn.) won by an 8-3 score at No. 3.
All six singles matches were decided in straight sets. De La Garza won 6-0, 6-4 at No. 1, Puccia won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2, Emery won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3, Schwartz won 6-3, 6-2 at No. 4
, JT Murray (Bayville, NJ) won 6-4, 6-4 at No. 5 and
Tyler Schacher (Blooming Grove, NY) won 6-1, 7-6 at No. 6.
The Devils will await word of seeding for the upcoming MAC Freedom tournament which will be released following the conclusion of regular season play tomorrow.
